York County Residents- Important Announcement………..
Curbside Recycling Moves to Every Other Week Beginning July 1, 2010
In light of the down turned economy and resulting budget shortfalls, the Board of Supervisors has determined that cutting back on the frequency of the curbside recycling program will save much needed funds. The weekly collection service will be scaled back to every other week beginning July 1.
York County encourages residents to continue with their recycling efforts. The day of the week on which your recycling is collected will not change. However, due to the new twice monthly collection schedule, residents will be permitted to place additional containers or paper bags of recyclables next to their VPPSA bin. Recommended containers can be a storage tote of a size comparable to the county-provided recycling bin and of a neutral color. Residents are also encouraged to utilize the county's drop off recycling site located at 145 Goodwin Neck Road. The site is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Recycling is an important and vital part of York County's solid waste management program. The county appreciates the support of its residents in continuing their enthusiastic recycling efforts by adjusting to the every other week collection service and utilizing the drop off center when necessary.
