On March 19, 2009 at the regularly scheduled Board of Directors Meeting, Mr. Dick Ashe the current owner of the Kiln Creek Golf and Country Club announced that he had filed preliminary plans with both the city of Newport News and York County. The following day the Association filed a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) to obtain any information regarding the plans. On April 16th this information became available to our Board and on April 17th, the information was sent to our Neighborhood Advisory representatives. The information obtained through the FOIA request was that Mr. Ashe had filed preliminary plans for developing up to 1,350 residences on land currently utilized as part of both golf courses (i.e. the now closed 9-hole golf course and the currently opened 18-hole course).
**Please note due to our documents no longer allowing additional villages within Kiln Creek (since 1998) this development would not be subject to the Kiln Creek covenants, rules and restrictions nor would they pay annual assessments like our current residents do.
Please see attached, Newport News City Council Work Session information from February 10, 2009 regarding this matter. In addition please see the Conceptual Master Plan submitted to Newport News officials on December 17, 2008.
